Muzaffarabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has alleged that his party’s electoral mandate was denied in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, claiming that PPP candidates were deprived of seats they had won. He vowed that the party would continue its struggle to protect its rights and restore what he described as the people’s mandate.
Addressing a workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal claimed that the PPP had secured victory on all 13 seats in the Mirpur region. He said those expecting the party to accept the results silently were mistaken, stressing that the PPP would continue its efforts to reclaim every seat it believed belonged to it.
The PPP chairman alleged that the recent elections followed a pattern similar to previous polls, claiming that the same practices were repeated to influence the outcome. He said his party has always supported national interests and would not become part of any agenda focused on the personal gains of political groups.
Bilawal stated that a decision must now be made about whether political interests of a particular party, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), should take priority or whether the country’s broader interests should remain the focus.
He further said that the PPP would not compromise on its principles or surrender before any pressure. He reaffirmed that the party would continue its mission of serving the public and raising its voice for the rights of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
