New WhatsApp Scam Alert: PTA Warns Public to Stay Vigilant

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning about a new scam circulating on WhatsApp. Fraudsters are sending messages claiming that users’ WhatsApp accounts are at risk of being suspended. These messages often contain fake links, which, if clicked, can lead to data theft and account hacking.

PTA urges all users to be cautious and avoid clicking on suspicious links. It is important to immediately report such messages and block the suspicious numbers to prevent further harm. Additionally, users are strongly advised to enhance their account security by enabling two-step verification on WhatsApp.

This alert comes as part of ongoing efforts by PTA to protect citizens from cyber threats and ensure online safety. Staying informed and vigilant can help users safeguard their personal information from fraudsters targeting unsuspecting individuals through social media platforms.
