Islamabad: In a major step towards modernizing the healthcare sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched an innovative online registration system for medical devices and equipment. This new digital platform promises to streamline the registration process, making it faster, more transparent, and user-friendly.
Under the new system, all registrations for medical equipment will be completed within 20 days, a significant improvement from previous timelines. The entire process has been shifted online, eliminating the need for cumbersome paperwork and reducing bureaucratic delays.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister praised the Ministry of Health and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) for their commitment to enhancing efficiency and ensuring merit-based procedures. He emphasized that this move not only supports the medical industry but also safeguards public health by ensuring that only certified and quality medical devices enter the market.
The digital registration system is expected to benefit manufacturers, importers, and healthcare providers by providing a transparent, accountable, and faster mechanism to comply with regulatory requirements. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision to leverage technology for improving service delivery and governance.
As Pakistan continues to face healthcare challenges, this step marks a significant milestone towards better regulation and modernization of the medical equipment sector, ultimately aiming to improve patient care and safety across the country.
