Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recognized Shubman Gill as the standout cricketer for July 2025, applauding his exceptional performances in the recent Test series against England.
The 25-year-old Indian batsman scored an impressive total of 754 runs in three matches, boasting a batting average of 75.
By achieving a Test double hundred on English soil, Gill became the first Indian captain to do so and only the second captain worldwide to reach this milestone outside their home country. His achievements surpassed historic records previously held by cricketing legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.
This marks the fourth occasion Gill has received the ICC Player of the Month award, making him the first male cricketer to earn this distinction four times. He considers this recognition a defining moment in his cricketing career and leadership role.
Other contenders for the award included England’s Ben Stokes and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, but Gill’s extraordinary run-making sealed his victory.
