Dhaka: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, held a significant meeting in Dhaka with Bangladesh’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Touhid Hossain, where both sides agreed to further strengthen and activate bilateral relations.
During the high-level engagement, delegations from both countries engaged in extensive dialogue to promote cooperation across multiple sectors. The discussions focused on economic and trade collaboration, regional security, cultural exchanges, education and skill development, and humanitarian cooperation.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, both parties emphasized the need to enhance high-level contacts and boost people-to-people ties to solidify bilateral understanding and harmony. Agreements were reached on launching joint projects in culture, education, and technology, aiming to strengthen mutual understanding between the people of both nations.
Regional and global issues were also addressed during the meeting, with special attention given to the revival of SAARC, the Palestinian issue, and the Rohingya refugee crisis. Both countries stressed working jointly for peaceful and timely solutions to these pressing matters.
On the economic front, Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met with Bangladesh’s Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin to discuss ways to enhance trade volumes, expand investment opportunities, and broaden bilateral commercial relations.
Several key agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on this occasion. These included a visa-free entry agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, cooperation between Foreign Services Academies, a partnership between strategic studies institutes, and the establishment of a Joint Working Group for trade promotion.
The Foreign Office described the meetings as cordial and constructive, reflecting the growing spirit of friendship and collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh. In honor of Senator Ishaq Dar, Adviser Touhid Hossain hosted a luncheon, where further discussions were held to deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation.
