Washington: After 41 days of an ongoing government shutdown, the U.S. Senate has successfully passed an annual spending bill, effectively restoring government operations.
According to reports, the bill was approved with 60 votes in favor and 40 against, with 8 members of the opposition Democratic Party also supporting the legislation. This crucial approval has cleared the path to end the shutdown and bring the government back into full operation.
The bill now awaits final approval from the House of Representatives, where the Republican Party holds the majority.
The shutdown, which had stretched for over a month, caused widespread disruption, with millions of federal employees working without pay, food assistance programs suspended, and severe delays in domestic air travel.
