Islamabad: Supreme Court judges Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah have resigned from their positions, signaling their opposition to the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah submitted his resignation in a detailed letter, spanning 13 pages, addressed to the President of Pakistan. In his letter, Justice Shah expressed his reservations about the controversial 27th Amendment and had previously communicated his concerns through two separate letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi.
Both justices have decided to step down amidst growing unease regarding the amendment’s impact on judicial independence and constitutional integrity. Their resignations mark a significant development within the judicial landscape of the country.
The move has raised questions about the potential implications for the judicial system and further deepens the debate surrounding the recent constitutional changes.
