US President Donald Trump has called the attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, “horrific” and strongly condemned it. While addressing the Christmas event at the White House, President Trump stated that such attacks are against humanity, and attempts to intimidate people celebrating religious or social events will never succeed.
President Trump praised the bravery of the civilian who risked his life to overpower the attacker during the incident. He said that this individual took timely action, saving numerous precious lives. “Such courageous individuals are the pride of society, and their sacrifice should always be remembered,” he added.
According to Australian media, during the shooting incident, Ahmad Al Ahmad, a 43-year-old fruit vendor from Sydney, risked his life to capture the attacker and disarm him, thus preventing further loss of life. Ahmad is a father of two children.
Media reports indicate that Ahmad’s brave actions have been widely praised both nationally and internationally, while investigations into the incident are ongoing by the relevant authorities.
