Garhi Khuda Bakhsh: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, addressed a large gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and celebrated Pakistan’s victory over India, calling it the most significant achievement of the year. He emphasized that this victory was not just for the government or the military, but for the entire nation. Bilawal highlighted that Pakistan’s triumph has been recognized and valued internationally, while adding a sharp critique of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that Modi “hides” whenever he hears the name “Field Marshal”—a reference to Pakistan’s military strength. Bilawal pointed out that India has not yet accepted the reality of its defeat.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari continued by reminiscing about the military operations that led to Pakistan’s success, specifically referencing the downing of Indian aircraft. He credited President Asif Ali Zardari for procuring the downed aircraft, underscoring how it was under the leadership of the Bhutto family that Pakistan acquired missile technology. Bilawal described this as a major step in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. According to him, Pakistan responded decisively to Indian aggression, marking the event as a symbol of the nation’s defense power and resilience. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s military response was a clear and powerful message to India.
The PPP Chairman also discussed Pakistan’s internal political and economic challenges. He noted that one of the significant achievements of this year was the passing of the 27th constitutional amendment in Parliament, which sought to address contentious clauses within the constitution. He stated that the controversial provisions had been successfully removed, which he argued was an important step towards political stability and fairness in the country.
Bilawal further spoke about the economic situation of Pakistan, acknowledging the challenges faced by the country due to the ongoing economic crisis. He emphasized that the federal government has the responsibility to tackle the nation’s economic issues, and he stressed that resolving this crisis would require the federal government to fulfill its obligations fully.
In his speech, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also focused on the relationship between the federal and provincial governments. He pointed out that, instead of centralizing powers in Islamabad, the provinces should be given more responsibilities, especially in tax collection. According to Bilawal, giving provinces more power in financial matters will strengthen their role and ensure better distribution of resources. He clarified that the PPP’s goal is to empower provincial governments rather than diminish their authority, and it remains committed to enhancing the provincial role in Pakistan’s governance structure.
Reflecting on the PPP’s role in Pakistan’s political system, Bilawal emphasized that the federal issues and challenges facing the country were not merely political concerns for the PPP but represented a personal responsibility for the party. He expressed that the PPP, as part of the provincial chain, has an added responsibility to ensure the well-being and stability of both the provinces and the country as a whole.
The PPP Chairman made it clear that despite the challenges, his party will continue to serve the people of Pakistan at every level. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to national unity, stability, and economic prosperity. He reiterated that the PPP will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of democracy and in addressing the political, economic, and social needs of the country.
