Prince Andrew detained on allegations of corruption and leaking classified information

London : Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger sibling of King Charles III, has been taken into custody by Thames Valley Police over suspected corruption and the unauthorized sharing of sensitive government documents. The 66-year-old former royal was questioned for several hours before being released.

The investigation centers on claims that during his tenure as a British trade envoy, Prince Andrew provided confidential reports and intelligence regarding countries like Vietnam and Singapore to Jeffrey Epstein. These incidents date back to official trips in 2010, which had already led to his resignation from the envoy position in 2011.

In 2025, amid mounting scrutiny and the gravity of the allegations, King Charles removed Prince Andrew’s royal honors. Buckingham Palace noted it had not been informed prior to the arrest, as the police acted independently to ensure the law was upheld.

Authorities confirmed that the matter will move forward to the Crown Court, where, if found guilty, Prince Andrew could face a life sentence.

King Charles remarked, “The law will take its course,” and reiterated that the royal family will fully cooperate with the ongoing legal proceedings.
