Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sent a message to Iran’s newly elected Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, congratulating him on assuming his important responsibilities. Expressing deep sorrow over the passing of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, the Prime Minister stated that the Pakistani people share in the grief of their Iranian brothers and affirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with Iran’s leadership and people.
In his message, Shahbaz Sharif expressed hope that under Mojtaba Khamenei’s visionary leadership, Iran will achieve new milestones of peace, stability, and prosperity. He emphasized that Pakistan-Iran relations are rooted in historical, cultural, and religious ties, and Pakistan is committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
This diplomatic outreach comes at a time of heightened regional tension. Following recent U.S. and Israeli aggression, and the passing of the former Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei was elected as Iran’s new Supreme Leader just two days ago. Amid threats directed at the new Iranian leadership from the U.S. and Israel, Pakistan’s message carries significant diplomatic weight.
