Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday conducted a detailed visit to Simli Dam in Islamabad to review its operational performance and water supply system.
During the inspection, officials briefed the minister that Simli Dam is a major source of drinking water for the federal capital and currently contributes around 40 percent of Islamabad’s total water requirements.
In view of the increasing water demand in the city, the interior minister instructed the relevant authorities to immediately formulate a comprehensive and workable expansion plan for the dam.
He stressed that expanding the facility is essential to ensure a stable and uninterrupted water supply for residents.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the expansion of Simli Dam would significantly improve water availability and help prevent shortages during the summer season as well as under normal conditions throughout the year.
