Baku : Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Saturday for an official three-day visit to Azerbaijan.
Upon her arrival at Baku Airport, she was received by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister for Defence Industry, Mehman Bakhshiyev.
During her visit, the Punjab chief minister will be hosted as a special guest of the Government of Azerbaijan and is scheduled to meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on May 17.
She will also participate in the World Urban Forum and address the World Leaders Summit at the Baku Olympic Stadium, where she is expected to highlight Punjab’s housing initiative “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” as a model for affordable housing.
According to officials, the programme aims to improve access to low-cost housing for low- and middle-income groups.
Her delegation includes Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Special Assistant Ali Dar.
The visit is expected to enhance cooperation between Punjab and Azerbaijan in urban development, housing, and broader bilateral relations.
