Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari has conveyed his warm felicitations to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian government and the people of Indonesia on the country’s Independence Day, observed annually on August 17.
In a message addressed to President Prabowo, President Zardari said the occasion represented the determination, courage and resilience shown by the Indonesian people throughout their struggle for independence. He also acknowledged the contributions of Indonesia’s founding leaders in achieving freedom for the nation.
The president highlighted the close and enduring relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, noting that bilateral ties had been strengthened by historical links, mutual trust, shared values and cooperation on a range of regional and international issues.
He said relations between Islamabad and Jakarta had continued to expand over the years, with both countries deepening cooperation in areas including trade, investment, defence, healthcare, education and people-to-people contacts.
President Zardari also expressed optimism that the positive momentum generated by President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Pakistan last year would help further strengthen bilateral relations and open new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
Concluding his message, President Zardari extended his best wishes for Indonesia’s continued peace, progress, development and prosperity, as well as the well-being of its people.
