ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP) have taken a major step toward creating a more inclusive digital ecosystem.
The announcement came during a bilateral meeting held at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025.
PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman led the session, joined by GDIP Executive Director Onica N. Makwakwa.
The meeting followed a recently signed Letter of Cooperation between the two organizations.
Collaborative Plans for Gender Digital Equality
GDIP praised Pakistan’s efforts in adopting gender-responsive digital policies.
PTA highlighted its work under the Gender Digital Divide program, which aims to provide equal internet access to women and marginalized groups.
The upcoming Subsea Cables Workshop was also discussed, focusing on boosting regional connectivity.
Both sides agreed on the urgency of equitable digital transformation.
They explored new opportunities to strengthen gender inclusion strategies and expand access across underserved communities.

The discussions emphasized meaningful connectivity, international cooperation, and the need to bridge digital gaps.
PTA reiterated its commitment to inclusive digital growth through strong policy reforms and global partnerships.
