PTI moves to replace KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur

Peshawar: In a notable political shift, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly resolved to dismiss Ali Amin Gandapur from his role as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Insiders reveal that Suhail Afridi, currently holding the portfolio of Minister for Higher Education in the province, is expected to take over the leadership position.

This decision comes amidst mounting internal friction within the party’s provincial framework. Although PTI’s central command has not yet issued any official confirmation or denial, the change has been indirectly corroborated by Gandapur’s legal representative, Rai Suleman.

The leadership alteration appears linked to recent tensions, including a public disagreement between Ali Amin Gandapur and Alima Khan, the sister of PTI’s founder, Imran Khan. Additionally, Imran Khan has voiced concerns over the administrative and political handling of the province.

The anticipated leadership transition aims to inject renewed momentum into KP’s governance as the party prepares to face forthcoming political hurdles. Suhail Afridi, recognized for his administrative acumen and current ministerial role, is considered well-equipped to guide the province’s future course.

Political commentators suggest that this move may also seek to reinforce the PTI founder’s authority within the provincial government while mitigating factional disputes within the party ranks.

At present, PTI’s official declaration on the matter is awaited, leaving the political scenario in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a state of flux.
