Heavy Monsoon Rains Disrupt Life Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The spell of monsoon rains brought much-needed relief from the heat across Pakistan on Thursday, cooling temperatures and lifting public spirits.

Lahore and its adjoining areas experienced early morning showers, which not only turned the weather pleasant but also caused widespread disruptions.

Relief From Heat, But Infrastructure Struggles

The rain was accompanied by strong gusts of wind, offering a welcome break from weeks of sweltering temperatures.

However, the heavy downpour flooded several roads and low-lying areas in Lahore.

Many streets were submerged, and rainwater entered houses, creating challenges for residents.

Power Outages Hit Multiple Areas

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) struggled to maintain power supply.

Dozens of feeders tripped, causing widespread outages across the city.

Similar scenes were reported from other parts of the country, including Islamabad and areas of Kashmir.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain over the next 24 hours, urging citizens to stay alert.

With monsoon season officially underway, authorities are expected to intensify drainage and safety efforts.
