ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Aimal Wali Khan announced that he has forgiven the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), bringing an end to their recent public disagreement.
In a statement, the senator revealed that the PTA Chairman personally approached him to resolve their differences, and he now regards him as an elder brother.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan also confirmed his decision to withdraw the privilege motion he had filed against the PTA Chairman, describing the incident as a mishap.
Background of the Dispute and Resolution
The dispute began when the ANP had openly criticized the PTA Chairman for his perceived ineffectiveness and lack of technical knowledge concerning critical telecommunications advancements.
During a parliamentary committee meeting, ANP leaders questioned the PTA Chairman’s ability to provide satisfactory answers on important sector issues.
The party had accused the chairman of demonstrating a non-serious attitude and insufficient understanding of telecom challenges, calling for competent leadership across all federal departments based strictly on merit.
Despite these past grievances, Senator Aimal Wali Khan has now chosen forgiveness, citing the Pashtun tradition of forgiving even killers as a reflection of the nation’s deep-rooted culture of forgiveness.
This decision is viewed as a positive step toward improving relations and cooperation between the two parties.
ANP’s Recent Leadership Developments
In related party news, Senator Aimal Wali Khan was recently elected unanimously as the Central President of the Awami National Party, while party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan continues as the leader of the party’s movement. The elections took place during the Party’s Central Council meeting, chaired by the Central Election Commission’s Chairman, Mian Iftikhar Hussain.
This reconciliation between the ANP Senator and the PTA Chairman reflects a move towards greater unity and focus on collaborative progress within Pakistan’s political and administrative spheres.
