PIA Resumes Gulf Operations Amid Ceasefire Easing Tensions

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially resumed flight operations to key Gulf destinations — Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai — following the recent Iran-Israel ceasefire and signs of stabilisation in the Persian Gulf region.

The airline had earlier halted its operations in response to escalating regional tensions and airspace safety concerns.

Delays Continue Despite Restart

Although flights have restarted, operational delays are still being experienced across Pakistan’s major airports including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Over 55 flights have faced delays, with some exceeding 10 hours.

PIA’s spokesperson urged passengers to stay in touch via the airline’s call center for real-time updates, stating that the reservation department is actively working to rebook travelers affected by cancellations.

“Safety remains our top priority. We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate the patience of our passengers,” the airline said.

Cancellations and Notable Delays

Despite resumed operations, several flights remain canceled, such as:

  • Eight outbound flights from Karachi to Jeddah, Doha, and Istanbul

  • Two Dubai-bound flights from Karachi operated by foreign carriers

  • Five Lahore flights to Sharjah, Muscat, and Riyadh

Significant delays include:

  • PK 747 (Lahore to Madinah): 13-hour delay

  • Doha-Karachi-Lahore route (foreign carrier): 10-hour delay

  • PK 233 (Islamabad to Dubai): 15-hour delay

  • Two Bahrain to Islamabad flights: 4-hour delay each

Passengers are advised to confirm their booking status before heading to the airport.
