Maryam Nawaz Pushes to Speed Up Nawaz Sharif IT City

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a key meeting to review progress on the Nawaz Sharif IT City, a flagship project aimed at technological advancement in Punjab.

The IT City recently received formal approval from the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), marking a major milestone with the establishment of the “NSIT Silicon Block.”

This approval paves the way for the arrival of global IT firms, with 23 major companies already expressing interest in setting up offices within the Silicon Block.

Major Collaborations and Investments

The project will host several prestigious institutions and tech companies.

Imperial College London, in partnership with Novecare, plans to launch a state-of-the-art medical college and hospital within the IT City.

NetCol aims to establish Pakistan’s first comprehensive IT university at the site, while the Roots Group is partnering with the University of Warwick, UK, for educational ventures.

Leading tech firms like DataFort and Mari-Tech will jointly develop Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers, and

Data Rocks is preparing to set up Punjab’s first FTA-approved laboratory.

Accelerated Efforts for Timely Completion

CEO of Central Business District Punjab, Imran Amin, gave a detailed update on the project’s current status.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed all relevant departments to expedite work and ensure timely completion of the IT City.

She stressed the need for proactive and coordinated efforts to make the IT City a center of innovation, investment, and job creation in Punjab.

Her vision is for the Nawaz Sharif IT City to become a leading technological and economic hub.
