Budget Schedule Finalized by NA Speaker Ahead of June 10 Presentation

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has formally approved the schedule for the upcoming federal budget proceedings, according to a statement issued by the NA Secretariat on Sunday.

The federal budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 is set to be presented in the lower house on June 10, with no parliamentary sessions scheduled for June 11 and 12.

Adviser to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad, earlier confirmed the budget presentation date, while the Pakistan Economic Survey will be released a day prior.

This schedule outlines a structured discussion and debate period on the budget, culminating in final decisions before the month’s end.

Full Parliamentary Debate Planned

Speaker Sadiq stated that parliamentary parties will be given time to express their views on the budget starting June 13, following all procedural rules.

Debates will continue until June 21, providing ample opportunity for members to deliberate on fiscal matters.
There will be no session on June 22.

On June 23, the Assembly will examine and debate essential government expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year.

Final Voting and Adjustments Scheduled

Crucial votes on motions for deductions and grants will be held on June 24 and 25.

The Finance Bill 2025–26 is scheduled for finalization on June 26.

A final session on June 27 will focus on voting for supplementary grants and addressing any remaining issues.

The speaker has reserved the authority to make adjustments to the schedule if necessary.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the new budget will aim to provide relief to the general public and support economic growth in sectors such as job creation, agriculture, IT, SMEs, and housing.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal also revealed plans for a Rs1 trillion development allocation, alongside a potential rise in defence expenditures.
