ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp has started testing a groundbreaking feature that allows users to create their own personalized AI chatbots directly within the app.
This functionality is now available to selected iOS beta users through version 25.17.10.75 on the TestFlight program.
Previously, users had to rely on Meta AI Studio or access chatbot creation through Instagram or Messenger.
Now, WhatsApp offers a more seamless and integrated approach—putting chatbot customization right at users’ fingertips inside the world’s most popular messaging app.
Custom AI Assistants Like OpenAI’s GPTs
This new tool empowers users to fully personalize their chatbot’s name, tone, appearance, and purpose.
The experience is similar to OpenAI’s “Custom GPTs,” offering flexible roles such as study coach, fitness advisor, travel planner, or even a motivational assistant.
WhatsApp also generates a visual avatar for each chatbot, which users can modify to match the assistant’s personality.
The setup is guided and intuitive.
Users are presented with smart suggestions and templates based on their input, streamlining the bot creation process.
Whether for productivity, support, or entertainment, users have the tools to craft an AI companion that fits their lifestyle.
Private or Shareable Chatbots
Once created, the chatbot becomes instantly usable within WhatsApp chats.
By default, these assistants are private—but WhatsApp includes a shareable link feature that allows users to distribute their bot with friends, family, or even groups.
This makes the feature ideal for shared use cases like event planning, group workouts, or collaborative learning.
For those seeking privacy, these bots can function as AI-powered journals, task managers, or even AI companions for personal conversation.
Limited Beta Release for Now
Currently, the feature is limited to a select group of beta testers, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp has yet to announce an official timeline for global rollout, but interest is already growing rapidly.
