ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a significant hike in petroleum prices for the next fortnight, with immediate effect from June 16, 2025.
According to a late-night notification issued by the Finance Division on Sunday, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) have been raised by up to Rs7.95 per litre.
This adjustment follows recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and relevant ministries.
Petrol and Diesel Get Costlier
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs4.80, moving from Rs253.63 to Rs258.43 per litre.
High-speed diesel has seen a sharper jump of Rs7.95 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs262.59 from the previous Rs254.64.
The revised prices apply immediately, affecting consumers across the country from June 16 onward.
Global Trends Behind Price Revision
Officials cited rising international oil prices and currency fluctuations as primary reasons for the fuel price increase.
