Saudi Arabia Guarantees Seamless Water Supply for Hajj 2025 Pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has successfully implemented a world-class water supply strategy to ensure uninterrupted access to clean water for over 1.5 million pilgrims during Hajj 2025.

The Kingdom’s comprehensive operational plan has been executed under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and spiritually fulfilling experience for pilgrims at all holy sites.

Strategic Planning Powers Massive Water Network

Saudi Arabia’s national water system has finalized its operational readiness plan to meet the surge in demand during the peak days of Hajj.

The plan includes supplying over 1 million cubic meters of water daily, with an average daily pumping volume of 750,000 cubic meters. Key locations—Makkah, the Grand Mosque, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah—are all covered under this strategy.

The massive effort is supported by 18 major infrastructure projects. These include the expansion of strategic water storage, enhancements to distribution networks, and upgrades to pumping stations and wastewater treatment facilities.

The Kingdom’s water infrastructure can now transport over 1.2 million cubic meters of desalinated water daily across a 1,300-kilometre pipeline network. Pumping stations are operating at an impressive 125% efficiency rate.

Safety, Hygiene and Real-Time Monitoring

Saudi Arabia has placed strong emphasis on water safety and quality. Advanced treatment plants with a combined daily capacity of 750,000 cubic meters adhere to the highest environmental and public health standards.

More than 4,000 laboratory tests are conducted every day using smart monitoring systems to ensure water remains safe and hygienic.

To further support this initiative, over 2,000 engineers and technicians are actively managing operations.

These personnel hail from key national water institutions, including the National Water Company and the Saline Water Conversion Corporation.

Additionally, more than 32,000 public restrooms have been fully prepped, and field inspectors have completed over 2,000 hours of operational assessments.

With its commitment to hygiene, safety, and religious duty, Saudi Arabia continues to set new benchmarks in water management during one of the world’s largest annual gatherings.
