Punjab Offers Free University Education for Workers’ Children

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a transformative initiative to provide free higher education to the children of industrial and mine workers, ensuring that no child is deprived of education due to financial constraints.

Under this program, students will be granted full scholarships for admission to seven campuses of COMSATS University.

The Punjab Workers Welfare Fund (PWWF) has officially invited applications from eligible families to benefit from this scheme.

The CM announced that tuition and academic fees will be fully covered by the Punjab government, including for the children of deceased or disabled workers.

Application Deadlines and Campuses

Applications can be submitted directly at the respective COMSATS campuses by the following dates:

  • Islamabad Campus: July 9

  • Wah Cantt & Abbottabad Campuses: July 4

  • Lahore Campus: July 17

  • Vehari & Attock Campuses: July 11

  • Sahiwal Campus: August 15

The initiative aims to support workers by removing the financial barriers to higher education, thus promoting social equality and long-term empowerment.

CM’s Vision: Education for All

In a heartfelt message, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to social justice, stating:
“The doors of Punjab’s higher education institutions are now open for every worker’s child.”

She also paid tribute to fathers on Father’s Day, calling them the “umbrellas” who protect and empower their children.

“A father teaches not just how to live, but how to live with dignity,” she said.

Additionally, on Global Wind Day, the CM highlighted Punjab’s commitment to renewable energy and wind power development in the Thal region, through public-private partnerships.
