ISLAMABAD:Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the serious escalation in regional security following attacks on the US Al Udeid air base in Qatar.
The Foreign Office condemned violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, emphasizing the urgent need for respect toward international law.
Pakistan called on all parties involved to exercise restraint and adhere to fundamental principles of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve ongoing conflicts peacefully.
Urging De-escalation and Dialogue
The Foreign Office spokesperson stressed that Pakistan urges immediate steps to reduce tensions and avoid further violence in the region.
The statement highlighted Pakistan’s consistent position favoring peaceful solutions through dialogue rather than conflict.
This latest flare-up follows missile attacks by Iran and retaliatory strikes by Israel, intensifying regional instability.
Ceasefire Announcement and Ongoing Violence
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran via social media, urging both sides not to violate the truce.
Despite the announcement, Iran launched missile waves shortly afterward, resulting in the deaths of four civilians in Beersheba, Israel, marking the first fatalities since the ceasefire declaration.
Trump’s ceasefire message appeared to allow ongoing military operations to conclude before full implementation, but explosions were reported near Tel Aviv and Beersheba before his statement.
Iran’s semi-official news agency confirmed the last missile barrage occurred just before the ceasefire took effect, underscoring the fragile nature of peace efforts.
Pakistan’s call for restraint and respect for international law underscores its desire to see lasting peace and stability in the region, emphasizing that diplomatic channels remain the only viable path forward.
