PIA Restores Gulf Flights After Ceasefire, Delays Persist

ISLAMABAD:
Following the official ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed its suspended flight operations to key Gulf destinations including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai.

The national carrier had halted its flights amid rising regional tensions, especially due to the potential risks in Persian Gulf airspace.

With the situation now stabilizing, PIA is working to restore full connectivity, although significant delays are still impacting schedules.

Operational Challenges Continue

A spokesperson for PIA confirmed that while flights have resumed, operational disruptions remain a challenge.

Passengers are advised to stay in touch with the PIA call center for real-time flight updates.

The airline has begun rebooking affected travelers, prioritizing safety and minimizing further inconvenience.

PIA extended an apology to its customers, emphasizing that ensuring the safety of passengers and crew remains its top concern.

Delays and Cancellations at Major Airports

Despite progress, over 55 flights—both domestic and international—have faced delays ranging between 4 to 15 hours.

Some foreign carriers have also reported disruptions.

Key canceled and delayed flights include:
• 8 outbound flights from Karachi to destinations like Jeddah, Doha, and Istanbul
• 2 Dubai-bound flights from Karachi, operated by international airlines
• 5 flights from Lahore to Sharjah, Muscat, and Riyadh

Notable delays include:
• PK 747 from Lahore to Madinah (13-hour delay)
• Doha-Karachi-Lahore foreign flight (10-hour delay)
• PK 233 from Islamabad to Dubai (15-hour delay)
• 2 flights from Bahrain to Islamabad (4-hour delay each)

PIA is monitoring the situation closely and expects operations to normalize gradually as the regional airspace remains calm.
