Rawalpindi : A Pakistan Army major was martyred and five Indian-backed terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bajaur District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing reported on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation took place on December 29, 2025, in the general area of Khar, Bajaur District, following intelligence reports of the presence of Khwarij militants linked to an Indian proxy group, Fitna al Khwarij.
The ISPR statement said, “During the operation, security forces successfully engaged the militants, resulting in the killing of five Indian-sponsored Khwarij. However, in the course of the intense firefight, Major Adeel Zaman, 36, a brave officer from Dera Ismail Khan, who was leading his troops from the front, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom.”
The statement further mentioned that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who had been involved in various terrorist activities targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies (LEAs), and innocent civilians.
The military’s media wing confirmed that sanitization operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-backed militants.
“Pakistan’s security forces, under the vision of ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ (approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan), will continue their relentless counter-terrorism campaign at full pace to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the ISPR concluded.
