Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, addressing the Ittehad-e-Bain-ul-Muslimeen (Unity Among Muslims) committee, emphasized the important role of religious scholars in guiding society toward improvement and unity.
She stated that all religious parties are part of this unity and stressed that communities and the state look to the ulema for leadership whenever religion is invoked. Maryam Nawaz underlined that society must remain united where needed in the name of religion.
The chief minister strongly condemned the use of violence, saying that taking up arms, targeting innocents, and blocking roads are unacceptable. She warned against past instances where some groups were allegedly used for political aims or to intimidate rivals, adding that harming lives, property, or public order under the guise of politics or religion will not be tolerated.
Maryam Nawaz affirmed that, as chief minister, she will take all necessary measures to protect the lives, property, and dignity of the public. She also noted that any circumstances that make action against a group necessary will be thoroughly examined.
