California: YouTube has rolled out an exciting new feature that adds a fun twist to the way users interact with videos. Now, when viewers hit the like button, they’ll be treated to brief, themed animations that enhance the experience.
This feature is currently available on select videos, and each time you like a video, an animation related to its content will appear. YouTube first revealed this feature in October 2025 as part of a broader update to its user interface and has now started to make it available to users.
There are currently 20 different animations based on the content of the video. For example, if you’re watching a video about cars or racing, the like button will animate with spinning tires or a puff of smoke. If you’re engaging with an educational video, the like button transforms into a glowing lightbulb.
Additionally, YouTube has designed special animations for videos featuring cats and dogs. However, this new like button feature hasn’t been extended to children’s content just yet.
