CJCSC General Shamshad Mirza holds key talks in Brunei to enhance defense cooperation

Rawalpindi : General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, recently visited Brunei Darussalam, where both countries reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing defense cooperation. During his visit, General Mirza met with the Sultan of Brunei, who commended the professionalism and dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit held significant value for strengthening bilateral defense ties. During discussions, both the Sultan of Brunei and the Pakistani delegation focused on regional security issues, areas of mutual interest, and ways to bolster defense collaboration. General Mirza emphasized the importance of joint efforts to deepen the friendship between the two nations.

General Mirza’s itinerary also included meetings with Brunei’s Minister of Defense and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The talks centered on defense strategies and ways to enhance military coordination between the two countries. Additionally, General Mirza visited Brunei’s Muara Naval Base and Dar Al Aman, where he addressed the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Defense Academy, underscoring Pakistan’s key role in promoting regional stability and peace.

During his visit, General Mirza reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen defense and military ties with Brunei. He also engaged with students at the Academy’s Command and Staff Course, which included officers from 19 countries, to discuss regional security challenges.

Throughout the trip, both the civilian and military leadership of Brunei praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their professionalism, effective counterterrorism operations, and the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism.

Upon arrival at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces headquarters, General Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honor, a gesture reflecting the strong and enduring military relationship between Pakistan and Brunei.
