LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed progress on the Nawaz Sharif IT City, a key project aimed at boosting the province’s technological landscape.
The project has received formal approval from the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), with the “NSIT Silicon Block” now officially sanctioned, marking a significant milestone.
Major Industry and Academic Partnerships
The meeting revealed strong interest from 23 leading IT firms eager to establish offices within the Silicon Block, with plots already acquired.
Imperial College London, in partnership with Novecare, will build a cutting-edge medical college and hospital on site.
NetCol plans to launch Pakistan’s first full-fledged IT university, while the Roots Group is collaborating with the University of Warwick, UK.
Tech companies DataFort and Mari-Tech will establish Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers, and Data Rocks aims to set up Punjab’s first FTA-approved laboratory.
CM’s Call for Speed and Coordination
CEO Central Business District Punjab, Imran Amin, briefed on project advancements.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed all departments to expedite work, emphasizing the need for proactive and coordinated efforts.
She underlined the IT City’s potential to become a vibrant hub of innovation, investment, and job creation.
