Iraq shows keen interest in JF-17 and Super Mushshak aircraft

Rawalpindi : Iraq has shown keen interest in acquiring Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, according to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), which released a statement on Saturday.

The expression of interest was made by Lieutenant General Staff Pilot Mohanad Ghalib Mohammed Radi Al-Asadi, the Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, during a meeting with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, in Baghdad.

The Iraqi Air Chief lauded the PAF’s professionalism, technological advancements, and world-class training programs, also emphasizing Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting regional stability.

In response, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu highlighted the longstanding religious, cultural, and historical ties between Pakistan and Iraq. He also reaffirmed PAF’s commitment to supporting the Iraqi Air Force in areas of training and capacity building.

Both air force leaders agreed on pursuing joint exercises and training initiatives aimed at enhancing interoperability between the two forces.

Earlier in the visit, Air Chief Sidhu was honored with a Guard of Honour at the Iraqi Air Force Headquarters, symbolizing the respect and deep military ties between the two nations. The visit further strengthened the resolve of both countries to enhance their defense cooperation and professional collaboration.
