Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed provincial governments to establish facilitation desks at the district level under the “Apna Ghar Scheme” to assist citizens in obtaining land-related documents with greater ease.
Chairing a review meeting on the housing programme in Islamabad, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the strong public response to the initiative.
He said that if the current pace of progress continues, the goal of home ownership for a large number of families could soon be achieved.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the success of the scheme would give a significant boost to the construction sector, support allied industries, and contribute positively to overall economic growth.
The Prime Minister instructed relevant authorities to further enhance facilitation for applicants and ensure a more streamlined, citizen-friendly process.
He also directed the Ministry of Housing to work in coordination with the State Bank of Pakistan to simplify the application form for better public understanding.
Banks were instructed to expedite the approval process for eligible applications and ensure timely processing without unnecessary delays.
He further ordered a nationwide awareness campaign to increase public outreach regarding the housing initiative.
During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that loans exceeding Rs11 billion have so far been disbursed under the scheme.
It was also shared that 67,900 applications have been received across the country, of which 16,587 have been approved, while 3,146 applicants have already received financial assistance.
According to officials, the State Bank of Pakistan has made it mandatory for banks to process applications within 15 days.
