PM Shehbaz invites Turkish investors to expand investment in Pakistan across key sectors

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has encouraged Turkish investors to broaden their presence in Pakistan by taking advantage of investment opportunities in sectors including energy, mining, minerals, infrastructure, maritime services, logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture and the government’s privatisation programme.

During separate meetings with prominent Turkish business groups in Istanbul, the prime minister said the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye should now translate into stronger economic cooperation based on greater trade and investment.

He said both countries possess immense potential to expand commercial collaboration in ways that would benefit their economies.

Highlighting Pakistan’s improving economic indicators, the prime minister said the country has achieved greater macroeconomic stability and introduced business-friendly reforms. He assured investors that the government is committed to ensuring a transparent, predictable and investor-friendly environment for local and foreign businesses alike.

PM Shehbaz also underscored the importance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), saying it continues to provide one-window facilitation and coordinated support through federal and provincial institutions for strategic investors looking to establish or expand operations in Pakistan.

In his meeting with Çalik Holding, the prime minister drew attention to investment opportunities in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, information technology and privatisation sectors. He welcomed the company’s interest in expanding its operations, noting that its existing investments through Çalik Enerji and GAP İnşaat provide a strong foundation for deeper future cooperation.

During a separate meeting with Albayrak Group, PM Shehbaz appreciated the company’s long-standing business presence in Pakistan and encouraged it to increase investments in maritime infrastructure, port development and logistics. He also praised its contribution to improving the country’s transport and infrastructure network.

The prime minister also met the president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), where he commended the organisation’s efforts to promote stronger business relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.

He proposed establishing a formal institutional mechanism to facilitate regular engagement between the private sectors of both countries and invited TOBB to lead a high-level business delegation to Pakistan to explore emerging investment opportunities.

Turkish business leaders welcomed Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and acknowledged the government’s investor-friendly policies. They expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic future and reaffirmed their commitment to increasing investments and building long-term partnerships across several strategic sectors, further strengthening the growing economic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
