Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Saturday to discuss the evolving regional situation and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
During the call, both leaders voiced deep concern over the deteriorating regional security environment despite the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran last month.
They agreed that the renewed rise in tensions benefits no party and could jeopardise continued efforts to restore peace, stability and constructive engagement across the region.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s call for all stakeholders to exercise maximum restraint and allow adequate time and diplomatic space for mediation initiatives aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan shared Saudi Arabia’s assessment of the ongoing diplomatic process and emphasised the need to de-escalate tensions while preserving dialogue as the preferred path forward.
The two foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on regional developments and issues of mutual concern.
