Meta unveils AI-Powered smart glasses ‘Meta Ray-Ban display’

California: A new revolution in the tech world is on the horizon as Meta unveils its AI-powered augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, positioned as a potential alternative to smartphones. The company has announced its first advanced AR device, the Meta Ray-Ban Display, priced at $799, set to hit the market by end of September.

According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the glasses are equipped with a next-gen display that can be controlled through hand gestures and neurotechnology. The highlight is a neural wristband that uses electromyography (EMG) to detect subtle electrical signals from the user’s wrist, enabling features like video playback, text replies, and other everyday tasks—all without touching a screen.

One of the standout features is the invisible display—it seamlessly blends with the real world and disappears when not in use, without obstructing the view.

In addition to the flagship device, Meta has also launched two more smart glasses:

  • Oakley Meta Vanguard ($499): Designed for sports like snowboarding and mountain biking, with up to 9 hours of battery life.

  • Updated Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses ($379): A refreshed version with improved features and a more compact design.

Zuckerberg expressed his vision for the future, saying that AI-integrated smart glasses will soon become a part of everyday life and reach millions—if not billions—of people worldwide.
