PDMA Punjab confirms end of 2025 monsoon; river levels stabilize

Lahore: Irfan Ali Kathia, Director General of PDMA Punjab, announced that the monsoon season of 2025 has officially concluded, with all rivers returning to normal water levels. He assured that the public will be kept informed about any developments during the flood period and confirmed that river flows are now stable, although the Sutlej River is experiencing slightly higher discharge.

In a press briefing, Kathia stated that the M-5 Motorway has been closed to all traffic due to floodwaters. However, water levels have been decreasing steadily over the last two days, and there is currently no threat of breaches on the motorway. A dedicated technical team continues to monitor the situation closely, with full cooperation from the National Highway Authority and Sui Northern Gas.

He added that no rainfall is expected over the next week. The Chenab River flow, between Marala and Panjnad, has normalized, and all flood breaches are anticipated to be sealed within seven days. Additionally, the major breach at the Ravi River near Sidhnai has been completely repaired.

Kathia also noted that Sindh has suffered minimal damage from the floods, with water levels in the Indus River at Sukkur continuing to drop. A reduction of 62,325 cusecs has been observed at this point.
