Huawei Unveils Pura 80 Series in China Comeback Push

ISLAMABAD: Huawei launched its new Pura 80 smartphone series, marking a major step in its effort to regain dominance in China’s premium smartphone market.

The launch comes after years of US sanctions that severely limited Huawei’s access to key technologies.

This release is closely watched as a sign of Huawei’s resilience and technological strength amid ongoing challenges.

Features and Models of the Pura 80 Series

The Pura 80 series includes four models: Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and Pura 80 Ultra.

The Pro models will hit the market on June 14, with prices starting at 6,499 yuan (about $905), while the Ultra model will be available from June 26 at 9,999 yuan.

The base Pura 80 will launch later in July.

Huawei highlighted the series’ camera innovations, featuring XMAGE technology, ultra-wide-angle, and macro telephoto lenses.

Embedded AI can identify objects and provide helpful information, such as tourist guides.

Market Impact and User Response

Huawei’s comeback intensifies competition with Apple, which has been losing market share in China.

The Pura 80 launch generated significant buzz on China’s social media platform Weibo, where multiple related topics trended on launch day.

Consumer reactions were mixed; many praised the advanced camera system and sleek design, while others criticized the pricing as too high.

Despite mixed reviews, the launch underscores Huawei’s determination to reclaim its position in China’s smartphone industry.
