French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that any effort to forcibly topple the Iranian government would be a “strategic mistake.” His remarks came during a press conference at the G7 summit in Canada, amid growing concerns over the escalating Iran-Israel conflict.
U.S. Offers Ceasefire, Awaits Iran’s Response
According to Macron, the United States has extended a proposal to Iran for a ceasefire and a return to nuclear negotiations. “The world is now waiting for Iran’s response,” Macron told reporters. He expressed hope that, if accepted, the offer could pave the way for long-term peace in the Middle East.
Tensions Remain High After Airstrikes
The comments come as violence intensifies. Four days ago, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed six Iranian nuclear scientists and top military officers. In retaliation, Iran launched heavy attacks on Israeli targets, with casualties reported on both sides—24 in Israel and more than 24 in Iran.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that President Donald Trump would cut short his participation at the G7 summit due to the worsening situation in the region.
