Islamabad : In response to the devastating rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level emergency meeting to review the situation. The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) briefed the Prime Minister on the extent of the damage and ongoing rescue efforts.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister directed NDMA to maintain close coordination with the KP government and intensify relief operations in the affected regions. He stressed that no effort should be spared in protecting lives and delivering urgent assistance to those in need.
He also instructed that relief goods be dispatched immediately via trucks to the hardest-hit districts on a priority basis. Additionally, he emphasized the swift evacuation of stranded civilians and tourists to safer areas.
The recent cloudbursts and torrential downpours have wreaked havoc in several parts of KP, particularly in Buner district, where 78 fatalities have been confirmed. The overall death toll across the province has reached 194.
