Washington: Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif had a significant meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, where both leaders focused on enhancing bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. The discussion was attended by notable figures including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The conversation was held in a friendly and constructive environment, covering topics such as trade partnerships, energy collaborations, climate change challenges, and economic growth in the region. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif specifically invited investment in Pakistan’s burgeoning information technology and agriculture sectors, highlighting the country’s youthful demographic and emerging market potential as lucrative opportunities for American businesses.
President Trump acknowledged the promising outlook of Pakistan’s economy and expressed the United States’ willingness to support Pakistan’s economic development. He also praised Pakistan’s dedication to combating terrorism and recognized the sacrifices made by its security forces.
Before the meeting, President Trump warmly welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, referring to them as “distinguished leaders.”
Upon arrival at Andrews Air Force Base, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a ceremonial red carpet welcome from senior U.S. Air Force officials and was provided a secure motorcade escort. After the White House engagement, the Prime Minister traveled back to New York to participate in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session.
