Trump claims Iran has agreed to forgo nuclear weapons, says he may meet Khamenei if things ‘work out’

Washington : US President Donald Trump has suggested that a future meeting with Iran’s top leadership could be on the table, depending on how current diplomatic engagements between Washington and Tehran progress.

Speaking in an interview, Trump said the United States is actively engaged in talks with Iran’s leadership and noted that a direct meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei “could take place at some stage,” while emphasizing that any such development would depend on changing circumstances.

He added that ongoing negotiations with Iran may produce constructive results, although he cautioned that the situation remains uncertain and could shift quickly.

Trump also revealed that he had a heated phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which he expressed strong frustration over Israel’s continued military operations in Lebanon. He reportedly described the call as tense and driven by anger.

According to American media reports, Trump allegedly used sharp language during the conversation, including criticism directed at Netanyahu over his handling of the regional situation.

The US president further stated that Iran has committed not to develop nuclear weapons and suggested that progress in talks could contribute to easing global oil prices.

He also remarked that there is currently no requirement for US ground troops in Iran, adding that the regional situation is evolving rapidly and could still move toward a more positive direction.
