Rawalpindi : Pakistan’s security forces have killed five terrorists affiliated with Fitna Al Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign aimed at eliminating foreign-backed militant elements and restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.
Following the successful operation, security personnel recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the area. The recovered material was subsequently destroyed, while sanitisation operations were conducted to ensure that no remaining threats were present.
The ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam initiative was continuing with full determination to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif separately praised the security forces for their successful operation and the killing of the five terrorists.
President Zardari commended the courage and determination of the personnel involved in the counter-terrorism operation, saying the fight against terrorist groups operating with foreign support would continue until such elements were completely eliminated.
He also appreciated the security forces for maintaining their resolve and dedication in the campaign against terrorism. The president said the objectives of anti-Pakistan militant groups backed by foreign forces would be defeated at all costs.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also welcomed the latest success and praised the security forces for making continued progress in the fight against terrorism under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative.
The prime minister reiterated the government’s determination to eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country and ensure lasting peace and stability.
