ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), to discuss the current rainfall situation in Pakistan.
The NDMA chief briefed the Prime Minister on the recent weather patterns and their impact across various regions.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of staying closely connected with provincial governments, particularly in the upper regions, to provide timely assistance.
Strengthening Coordination for Disaster Response
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the NDMA chairman to enhance communication with rescue agencies, district administrations, and provincial authorities to ensure a coordinated response.
He also ordered the dissemination of weather updates to citizens through mobile phone alerts to keep the public informed and prepared for any emergencies.
Weather Alerts and Precautionary Measures
The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) under NDMA has issued impact-based weather alerts covering several parts of Pakistan.
Warnings include heavy rainfall, urban flooding, glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), and related hazards expected within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The government continues to monitor the situation closely to minimize risks and protect citizens.
