China reaffirms Pakistan as top priority in regional diplomacy: Chinese FM

Islamabad: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reaffirmed that Pakistan remains a top priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy and emphasized Beijing’s commitment to further deepening strategic ties with Islamabad.

During a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad, Wang Yi stated that the China-Pakistan relationship has stood the test of time and continues to evolve as a model of regional cooperation and mutual trust.

“Pakistan is not just a neighbor but a trusted and reliable strategic partner. China places high importance on its relationship with Pakistan and aims to elevate it to even greater heights,” Wang Yi said.

The Chinese Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stating that Beijing is ready to work closely with Islamabad on the second phase of the project, focusing on industrial cooperation, renewable energy, infrastructure development, and agricultural modernization.

He further stressed China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, regional stability, and counterterrorism efforts, expressing interest in expanding cooperation in emerging sectors like cybersecurity and mining.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the meeting, Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s hospitality and reiterated China’s support for Pakistan in international forums, including the United Nations.

Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, in response, praised China’s consistent support and expressed Pakistan’s strong desire to strengthen people-to-people connections and economic cooperation under the CPEC framework. He also acknowledged China’s role in promoting regional peace and prosperity.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region and expressed confidence in the future of bilateral relations.
