Washington : The White House has clarified that the United States has no current plans to deploy ground forces inside Iran, amid rising tensions in the region. Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters that while the situation is being closely monitored, Washington is not preparing to send troops into Iranian territory.
Leavitt highlighted that the US, along with its allies, is taking precautionary measures to protect international shipping routes, particularly in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Efforts are underway to ensure the safety of oil tankers passing through this key global energy corridor, with safeguarding commercial shipping and energy supplies remaining a top priority.
The spokesperson noted that President Donald Trump has been in continuous contact with leaders of Arab nations to coordinate responses and maintain stability during this period of heightened tensions.
Leavitt also accused Iran of using diplomatic negotiations to buy time for advancing its nuclear program, stressing that the US will prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. She criticized the Iranian leadership for choosing confrontation over dialogue, saying that the current consequences are the result of Tehran’s own policies.
In addition, Leavitt claimed that around 20 Iranian naval warships have already been destroyed, underscoring the administration’s approach of coupling warnings with decisive action. She emphasized that President Trump prioritizes practical steps to protect American interests and regional security, rather than relying solely on rhetoric.
