India:In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed the hosting rights for the next three World Test Championship (WTC) finals to England, bypassing India’s bid to stage the high-profile events.
The decision was made during the ICC’s annual meeting in Singapore, where members acknowledged the success of the most recent WTC final held in England, leading to the extension of hosting rights for the 2027, 2029, and 2031 editions to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
In addition to the WTC decision, the ICC also discussed its ongoing support program for displaced Afghan women cricketers, aimed at offering them performance-based training, local playing opportunities, and pathways into global competitions.
The council reaffirmed that USA Cricket remains under official notice and must carry out governance reforms, including conducting free and fair elections within three months, to remain in good standing.
Lastly, the ICC welcomed two new Associate Members -the Cricket Federation of Timor-Leste and the Zambia Cricket Union — raising the total number of member nations to 110.
