U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the ongoing discussions aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza are showing promising progress, with a peace deal expected in the near future.
During a press briefing at the White House, Trump revealed that Hamas has reached consensus on several critical issues, and that the peace initiative has garnered backing from major international players. He remarked, “We are on the verge of resolving a conflict in the Middle East that has lasted for over 3,000 years.”
He also noted that Turkey, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia are actively participating in the peace process, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan leveraging his influence. Trump mentioned that Hamas holds Erdoğan in high regard.
The U.S. President cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against adopting a negative approach regarding the release of hostages. He emphasized that the Israeli population desires the return of captives and an end to the conflict.
Trump further asserted that his administration has successfully averted several wars, including a potential conflict between Pakistan and India. “Through trade policies and tariffs, we prevented seven wars, and during heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, seven aircraft were downed, yet we managed to defuse the situation,” he said.
Turning to domestic affairs, Trump blamed the Democrats for the government shutdown, accusing them of wanting to provide healthcare services to undocumented immigrants.
He also criticized former President Obama’s policies, claiming they harmed the economy. Trump pointed out that peace was restored following the deployment of troops in Washington D.C., while cities like Chicago continue to struggle with violence.
Lastly, addressing his recent address at the United Nations, Trump explained that technical difficulties with the teleprompter and headphones led to his voice not being heard clearly by the audience. His wife, Melania Trump, reportedly confirmed the technical issues.
