GTA 6 Rumoured to Feature Longest Story Mode in Franchise History

ISLAMABAD: As fans eagerly await the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), a new rumour surrounding the game’s story mode has sparked fresh speculation and excitement across the gaming community.

Originally scheduled for a Fall 2025 release, GTA 6 was recently delayed by Rockstar Games to mid-2026.

The delay, according to the developer, is aimed at refining the game to deliver the best experience possible.

The announcement came shortly before Rockstar dropped the second official trailer of the game, confirming that the footage shown was a mix of real gameplay and cinematic cutscenes captured on a PlayStation 5.

Longest Campaign Yet?

Although Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped regarding story mode details, recent online speculation suggests that GTA 6 will feature the longest single-player campaign in the series.

A gaming community account claimed that the main storyline could span between 45 to 50 hours, potentially exceeding 100 hours for players aiming for 100% completion.

If these claims prove accurate, GTA 6 will significantly outpace its predecessor GTA 5, which offered approximately 30 to 35 hours of core story gameplay.

This rumoured expansion aligns with Rockstar’s reputation for immersive, content-rich open-world titles.

The new trailer also teased familiar visuals from Vice City, hinting at a return to the neon-lit, beachside chaos last seen in 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The game will be set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by modern-day Florida.

Plot and Characters

According to Rockstar’s brief synopsis, GTA 6 will follow Jason and Lucia, two characters forced to navigate the criminal underworld after a botched robbery.

The duo must trust each other to survive a sprawling conspiracy that stretches across the sun-drenched state of Leonida.

While the full story mode details remain under wraps, the central narrative promises intense drama, action, and emotional stakes that have become synonymous with the franchise.

With high expectations and a longer-than-ever wait time, fans are hopeful GTA 6 will live up to — and perhaps surpass — the legacy of its predecessors.
